Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture on Fundamentals in Geomorphology will provide information on geomorphic processes and forms. After acknowledging the historic evolution of the subject, fundamentals of the various related issues are presented. Based on endogenic processes such as plate tectonics and vulcanismn, exogenic processes and forms are detailed. This includes themes covering fluvial -, limnic and coastal -, landsliding -, periglacial - and glacial processes and forms. In a final part, some perspectives on the development of geomorphology are given.
After successful graduation of the lecture, students are aware of basic concepts in geomorphology and of perspectives of the overall discipline.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written exam via moodle at the end of the term.
There will be also an exam in english for those who need the course as a requirement for the master's program. This exam consists of both open and MC questions.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Goals of this lecture: learn the basics of geomorphology and the perspectives for the future development of this field.
