Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Hazards caused by landslides are widely spread in low mountain ranges. During the past decades in numerous regions the frequency of landslides increased, often resulted in damages of properties.
In the course of the hands-on seminar the slope stability of flysh sequences has to be analysed, using examples of landslides in the Vienna area. In a first step the course aims to develop methodically basics to determine and desribe hazard areas. Afterwards, parameters controlling landslide processes in the flysh has to defined on the base of field and laboratory work, archive examinations as well as existing process informations. The calculation of slope stability and the assessment of frequency and magnitude of events has to be done in a further step.
