Focus South Asia I: Population. Demographic, social, political key issues.
Selected structural indicators of South Asian countries.
Measuring poverty.
Population explosion and demographic change. Selective migration patterns.
Problems of urbanisation, megacities, marginalization, slums, informal work force.
Political, especially territorial frictions of areas and borders and armed confrontations
Socio-cultural aspects: religions - languages, regionalism/communalism, cast system
