Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This excursion will be held at the end of September. The route will lead to selected places in former marginalized areas of the Burgenland. This easternmost province of Austria has been enormously developed throughout the last decade due to its target 1 status concerning the EU-regulations. The range of places of interest stretches from Industrial estates to agricultural sites. Each of the chosen localities will serve as an example of a specific economic or social development. Worth mentioning is also the reflection of minority life worlds exemplary shown in settlements of the Croats and the Roma. The route will lead down to the South where mainly questions of regional development will be discussed.

Paper and discussion.

Analysis of strategies and problems of regional development in peripheral areas;

Examination topics

Expert lectures along the route, presentations and discussions.

Reading list

relevant literature will be provided during the course.
