Many thanks for your interest in the lecture. It will be held also this semester as an on site lecture in line with the goal of the University of Vienna, thus your physical presence is also welcome. There are 60 seats permitted in HS III, which should be sufficient.
Information: as in previous semsters, ALL lecture material (presentations) will be put into the MOODLE platform directly after each lecture and thus are fully available in digital form. As the exam will be online and all sources may be used (lecture slides as well as all online media you wish to use) this should also work under COVID-19 conditions.Kindly observe the current COVID regulations of the University of Vienna:For our lecture in HS III:- Observe the general rules on hygiene and behaviour.- Sit exclusively in marked places (primarily yellow seats, then blue seats).

Aims, contents and method of the course
The students have gained an overview to the political geography and geopolitical situation in selected European regions.Exemplarily, conflict regions spanning a geographical arch from the Arctic and the Baltics over Eastern and Southern Europe, the Mediterranean region to the Caucasus are examined more closely.The conflicts therein cover a wide spectrum of political geography, from territorial to ethnic, economic and political challenges.Each lecture will follow a threefold outline: in addition to the conflict areas, underlying geopolitical/political-geopgrahical theories and their prime geopolitical proponents/thinkers will be covered.The lecture will be supported by audio-visuals and selected reading.
