Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction into basic questions and the didactic concept of the subject "GW" ("Geography and Economics") in secondary education (age of pupils: 10 to 18 years).
Contents: The role the subject "GW" plays within the set of subjects in secondary education; The curricula of the subject "GW" (educational and teaching theories, didactic principles, curricula of the respective subjects); The development of educational objectives; The basic of didactics and main theories; The most important theories of didactics relevant for "GW", focussing on goals, topics and themes, student work and economy; The correlation between "GW" and political education (subject "Politische Bildung"); Different ways of instructing - the main concepts; The relation between "geography" - "economics" - "economic geography"; Job orientation and key qualifications - to what degree are contents and methods influenced by the current political and economic situation? "GW" and the concept of key targets according to W. Klafki: chances and risks; The subject "GW" - cooperation with other subjects (bilingual teaching ¿); Topography in topic-related learning; Different concepts of space in "GW": vicinity versus distance, "artificially created space", perception of spacial structures, aspects of dimension, and social relevance ...; Recent developments in the teaching of "GW": Tracking "geographies in your own private lives"; The importance of relevance in "GW".
