Aims, contents and method of the course

This seminar is concerned with problems of economic policy. One focus is related to the recent crisis of the European Economic and Monetary Union, the other to structural changes caused by globalization. The Crisis on financial markets, an uneven distribution of income and assets and imbalances in foreign trade are seen as important factors of the crises. Solutions are discussed in the field of Macroeconomic policy, labor market and social policy and reforms of European institutions. Globalization is a challenge for structural policy which is focused on the competition of nations (particular of Austria), reform of tax structures and strategies of regional policy.
