Aims, contents and method of the course

The main focus of the proseminar is on the thematical and regional introduction to the Sothwest Germany excursion.
Therefore, the proseminar gives an overview on the geology, the karst, the Pleistocene evolution, the distribution of the soils and vegetation and the Holocene development. Furthermore, the settlement history, the hydrology, the human modification of the Rhine River, the genesis and significance of the Lake Constance as well as the topic of natural hazards and risks is discussed.
Regional foci is put on the Upper Rhine Valley, the Black Forest, the Lake Constance region, the Swabian Alb and the Nördlinger Ries.
Precondition: Registration to the excursion "Southwest Germany".
