Aims, contents and method of the course

The goal of the lecture is to enable the students to use common tools for the visualisation of geographic data. Techniques and methods for map creation are shown with vector and raster graphic software like:
Introduction to common tools in cartography, symbolisation, layer concept, colour definition, styles, fonts, digitising of map examples, integration of hillshading. After attending the lecture every student should be able to produce high quality maps in a cartographic correct manner and know the technical possibilities of their reprography.
This lecture is the continuation of the lecture "Exercises in mapping techniques, reproduction and publication technologies I"
