Aims, contents and method of the course

The content of the lecture comprises the following chapters:
1. Introduction and overview; 2. Goals, indicators and trade-offs in economic policy; 3. Instruments and decision units in economic policy; 4. Growth policy; 5. Business cycle and Stabilisation policy; 6. Social policy, distribution policy; 7. Regional policy; 8. European economic policy; 9. Implementation, Realisation of economic policy.

written examination (date and registration: moodle)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The aim of the lecture is to provide a fundamental knowledge in economic policy. The fields of economic policy are being exemplified by Austrian and European policy measures.

Examination topics

The method is to select the most important fields (or sectors) of economic policy, to introduce briefly the theoretical background and to give a comprehensive overview over the institutional and social aspects of the different policy themes.
