Political geography has been traditionally dealing with the interdependencies of space, society and politics. In post-modern times, however, the focus of political geography has shifted from the analysis of the state(s) as prime actor(s) to multi-level analyses of conflicts (local-regional-national-global) within a time-space-framework. The aim of the course ist to discuss and analyse various recent conflicts and (potential) coping strategies in contemporary Asia, ranging from ecological issues to problems of bad government, poverty, ethnicity etc. to international crises in the region.ECTS credit points: 6.0
