Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The general aim of Urban Analysis III (UA3) is to add to the toolbox of methods developed in UA1 and UA2. A mix of qualitative and quantitative methods are employed in order to collect useful data that can be analyzed and presented in a suitable way. We offer a set of five modules from which students must select 4 ECTS:

Qualitative interviewing & analysis (1.5 ECTS)
Descriptive statistics (1 ECTS)
GIS and mapping techniques (1.5 ECTS)
Visual research methods (1.5 ECTS)
Planning communication (1 ECTS)

Additionally, reflective thinking and a culture of constructive discussion will be continued as core elements of the course. To achieve this objective, this course applies an interactive approach with practical teamwork, field-work, and presentations. The course leaders are experienced researchers and practitioners capable of connecting research relevancy with appropriate methods.

For all Non-4CITIES students: Participation is only possible for the module-mix qualitative analaysis + visual analysis + planning communiation and is very limited. In case of interest, please make sure to attend the intro session on March 9th, 2017.
