The main intention of the lecture is to connect Regional Economics with Economic Geography. The topic relates to macroecomic parts of Regional Economy, it is particularly focussed on international and regional Trade Theory and on New Economic Geography. There will be analysed the location advantages of regions and their impacts both on the production structure and on income and welfare. The regions are conceptualised on different spatial scales and from a structural and functional point of view. With the theoretical basis there will be finally discussed the perspectives of development of various regions and the adequate instruments of regional policy.
