Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The seminar is dedicated to current regional development processes in urban regions and poses the question of their "share of cooperation". Medium-sized and large cities in Austria serve as the study area, although references to other European regions are also possible. The focus is on newer approaches to actor networking with the preceding thesis that the future development of regions will be based heavily on cooperation of all kinds. Topics and questions include various types of cooperation between actors, placemaking in public space, co-working, temporary and multiple use, mobility solutions, housing supply and much more.

The goals of the seminar are to get to know topics of cooperative regional development, to formulate theory-based questions and to learn to understand contradictions in regional development.
The methods of the seminar include teaching inputs and lectures, the independent processing of relevant concepts, possibly on-site research and inspections (individually and/or in groups), moderated session settings including feedback loops.
