Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The students will learn the functioning of different field methods in physical geography. They will be able to apply them in order to solve research questions focusing on geomorphology.
In the beginning of the field class a physical geographical introduction of the study area is given. The students are then expected to work out different research question for the area and apply the relevant field methods in teams. The determined data has to be analyzed and interpreted by the students. Requirement for the course is a fundamental knowledge in physical geography, taught in the introduction courses.

Assessment and permitted materials

- active participation 15%
- video presentation 30%
- handout 10%
- final presentation 5%
- scientific paper on a chosen topic 40%

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

The grade is based on allocation of points. The maximum attainable points are 100 points.

For positive evaluation the following minimum requirements must be fulfilled.
- constant attendance
- presentation held and handouts printed for everyone
- a minimum of 55 points in total

Grading system:
>=90 points: very good
77-89 points: good
66-76 points: satisfactory
55-65 points: adequate
< 55 points: unsatisfactory
