In the framework of the seminar characteristical landscapes and landscape elements are to be considered in their geoecological environment. Thereby special emphasis is placed on functional networks and contexts on the base of spatial and chronological scales. The dimension of the anthropogenic impact on the natural environment forms one of the main aspects. Furthermore, the course deals with national and European concepts of natural protection. The seminar is composed of detailed written and oral presentations of the participants. In addition, 3 days of excursion are included in the vicinity of Vienna.
