Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The project seminar "landscape ecology" is intended to train students for their final exam. At the beginning students work on selected topics in landscape following the instructions of the lecturer. One part of the course consists of theoretical work, as investigations on literature, internet and further data sources. The other part is composed of a series of practical exercises, as field survey. The field work takes place in the loess region of Lower Austria, where we mainly investigate soils and their importance inside the geo-ecosystem. Soil samples are taken from selected profiles, designated to be analysed in the laboratory. Students will consider ecological parameters, particularly. At the end of the semester, the dataset will be evaluated and presented.
