Aims, contents and method of the course
This course adresses students in the advanced study period. It aims at the increase of methodological knowledge in general and to become more acquainted with the planning instruments in regional planning in special. Beside the introduction into different instruments applied in planning practice, the thematic main focus of the course lies in the spatial impact assessment, strategic environmental assessment (SEA) and the methods of evaluation (in European regional policy). The variety of methods will be highlighted as well as the potentials and limitations of these planning instruments. The course is divided into a lecture and a practice part. In the practice part the students will work in teams to analyse practical planning examples and to subject them a critical reflection.
