During this lecture the functionality and usability of open source software for handling geographic information is discussed by working on concrete projects.
The students should receive the possibility to evaluate various spatial data such as orthophotos, cartographic model, digital cataster model, digital terrain model, etc. and integrate the spatial information in an open source geographic information system. After manipulation and analysis the results are visualised in a cartographic form. The main steps include problem definition, data acquisition, manipulation and web based cartographic presentation.ECTS credit points: 2.0
