Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of this course is to give students an understanding of the diversity of high mountains from the perspective of spatial perception and to illustrate the associated topics. Both theoretical and practical methods of geocommunication are discussed, and geomedia are used in the field. Participants gain a practical overview of procedures and processes in high mountains and their connection to alpine safety, orientation, and risk prevention.

Building on a solid theoretical foundation in the primary learning objectives of geography and cartography, this course focuses on teaching students how to independently use modern teaching materials and techniques. To this end, the importance and use of digital geo-tools such as GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System), web mapping (creation and use of online maps), and VGI (Volunteered Geographic Information) are taught in a variety of practical ways, particularly in relation to high mountain regions.

Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of geography
- Awareness of risk prevention and basic alpine knowledge
- Good physical condition and skiing skills
