Supervision of diploma and doctoral theses by enhancing the development of independent and responsible scientific research. Introduction to theoretical background and practical applications of various methods depending on the topics of the thesis, e.g. light- and electron microscopy, morphometry, molecular biology, sequence alignment and phylogenetic inference (cladistic analysis). Taxonomic focus is on mollusks. Special emphasis is on efficient literature search and the critical evaluation of published data. Guidance for writing scientific publications, poster production and for preparing oral presentations is provided.
