Aims, contents and method of the course
This lecture series introduces the basic methods to investigate animal populations and communities in field studies. Key topics include: community-wide vs. population-specific approaches, mark-release-recapture methods (MRR), trap methods for flying insects, trap methods for ground arthropods, arthropods in wood and soil, transect count techniques, food-web assessements, micro-ecosystem surveys, long-term monitoring schemes, planning and design of surveys, hints to data evaluation
