Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The course will demonstrate the basic steps in designing and conducting a field study on biodiversity-related questions – developing a testable hypothesis, study design, field work, data analysis, oral and written presentation of the study. Work will be conducted in teams of two persons. Each team will select a specific question within the umbrella-theme island biogeography: relationships between size, isolation and land use history of islands and their species richness. Vascular plants, grasshoppers and birds will serve as model groups.
COSTS: Field work will be conducted in and around the national park Kornati in Croatia (04/05 - 18/05/2018). Costs of 500 € cover accommodation (houses with kitchen) and rent of boats. Travel to Kornati can be arranged at low costs. C. 25% of the costs will be refunded from subsidies of the University.
