Biogeography deals with the spatial and temporal distributions of organisms and their communities, their causes both current (ecology, dispersal ability etc.) and historical (Pleistocene ice-ages, continental drift etc) as well as with the impact of humans and its possible consequences (e.g., global warming). The aim of this seminar is to present and discuss current issues in biogeography. The students will give oral presentations, criticise scientific articles and participate in group discussions. Original literature, reviews and theoretical papers will be serve as the basis for the seminar.
