Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The goal of this practical course is to gain a basic understanding of modern quantitative methods of physical anthropology. To to so, we carry out a project based on digital data, including the reconstruction of a fragmented cranium and the analysis of cranial shape and its interpretation as well as the discussion of interactions between ontogeny and phylogeny.

- introduction to working with digital crania in the form of surface data
- introduction to data acquisition of recent and fossil material
- methods of quantification, visualization and analysis of morphological patterns

no prerequisites.
