Aims, contents and method of the course

The aim of the LV is to awaken a basic understanding of behavioural biology, including relevant knowledge and new perspectives.
This is a literature seminar which requires the active participation of the students in the following areas:
1. a topic (usually 2 papers) is worked on in teams of two and presented as a PowerPoint
2. actively joining in the discussion by taking over different roles (chair, supporter, opponent).
3. providing constructive feedback to the colleagues as part of the exercise .
4. reading the abstracts of all enclosed papers in order to have an appropriate background for the discussion.
Each contribution takes approx. 30 min (approx.20 min lecture, 10 min discussion).
Topics will be announced on Moodle in time.

Assessment and permitted materials

Seminar presentations, quality and style of the presentation, understanding of the content, participation in the discussion and in the feedback.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Mandatory attendance at the first unit.
Attendance for at least 90% of the time on the day of the presentations.
Minimum requirements: Presenting the own paper and actively participating at the discussion of two other presentations.
