Aims, contents and method of the course

Targets: Acquisition of knowledge of diversity and phylogeny of vascular plants as well as of various methods to study evolutionary processes.
Contents: Introduction to diversity and phylogeny of vascular plants (gymno- and angiosperms) with special focus on Europe. Examples of evolutionary developments in plants in connection with life forms, reproduction modi (outcrossing/inbreeding/apomixis), nutrition related adaptations (carnivory, epiphytism, succulence, xeromorphoses) or metamorphoses, their analyses and interpretations.
Methods: Lecture (Power Point) and sometimes demonstrations
