Aims, contents and method of the course

Students will be introduced to the up-to-date techniques which are necessary for examining proteins. This will include:
Understanding an enzyme: tyrosyl-tRNA synthetase as a paradigm; HPLC quantification, amino acid analysis, isoelectric focussing, cappilary electrophoresis, glycoprotein analytics; Fluoresence techniques, FRET, CD, spectrophotometric analysis; Modern Mass Spec techniques, Nano-Sims; Proteome-wide techniques, Gel filtration - doing it right: use of SEC-Mals, Biacore; ITC (Isothermal Titration Calometry; Capillary electrophoresis; Use of static and dynamic light scattering for protein(complex) characterisation and their importance for protein crystallography"
