Aims, contents and method of the course
The practical course deals with selected species to present some of the main phyla of the animal kingdom. Dissections and histology slides show the comparative anatomy of different organ systems. Main topics are the various adaptaptations and specializations to distinct habitats (e.g. pelagic life form versus benthic, parasitism, different forms of locomotion and feeding)
