· know selected probability distributions and be able to estimate distribution parameters on the basis of univariate samples;
· be able to use vectors and matrices for the representation of multivariate data and understand the use of linear algebra for the biological sciences;
· be able to apply simple methods of discrete and continuous analysis in modelling biological processes;
· know the principle of statistical testing and be able to perform selected 1-sample tests as well as 2-sample tests;
· describe the common variation of variables by correlation parameters and be able to perform (simple) regression analysis.Special weight is put on the mathematical and statistical concepts, the selection of the correct methods and the interpretation of the results.
