Where: Konrad Lorenz Research Center in Grünau im Almtal (Konrad Lorenz Forschungsstelle, KLF)
You are invited to stay at the Konrad Lorenz Research Center in Grünau im Almtal for two nights. Your train travel and accommodation will be paid for. You will arrive at noon. On the first day, you will receive and induction and practice your talk/strategy with your partner from 15:00 to 18:00. The next day from 09:00 to 17:00 you will present along with all other talks and debates. Departure to Vienna the next morning 10:00.

Aims, contents and method of the course

Select a topic from the 10 topics presented. In each topic there are two papers. Select one paper, and another classmate selects the other. (if no one else chooses the topic, present the one paper) Prepare a 5 min engaging talk explaining the research question, the main research variables and how they were measured, and the results. With your partner, you summarise the main findings and weaknesses of the other person’s paper in a debate style. Conclude with how each paper contributes to understanding the main topic. Total time is 20 minutes. You will respond to questions from the audience for 10 minutes.

Assessment and permitted materials

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Marks will be given for the quality of the talk (40%), quality of debate (30%), and capacity to respond to questions from the audience (30%).
