Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture gives a approach to numerous topics of urban ecology, among them: history; urban planning; urban sociology; urban biosphere (including pollutants, climate, floristic and faunistic aspects); ecosystem urbs; and the growth of cities. The perspective is broadened to cities worldwide, global trends and the future of towns.
One semester of urban ecology cannot suffice to cover the subject in its entirety. My lecture offers basic information and principles of a variety of fields of study; thought-provoking impulses also on topics usually not associated with urban ecology will be presented. Furthermore, I take the liberty of including aspects of history of science.

Assessment and permitted materials
