Environmental Information Management

"The lecture is directed to all students interested in this subject and prepared to participate actively without special pre-condition and deals with the following issues:
" Legal standards and the concept of sustainability as a basis for the interpretation of the state of the environment (who provides information, and who are the decision makers in Austria, in the EU and at the international level?)
" Who needs what type of information (politician, administration, technician, general public) and what is the adequate level of aggregation?
" How environmental information is generated (science, administration etc.)
" The right on information (Arhus -Convention, Environmental Information Directive and the Austrian Law on Environmental Information)
" Technical framework condition for storage, preparation and transfer of information
" Reporting obligations in Austria, to the European Commission, to the European Environment Agency, the OECD etc.)
" The compilation of environmental information with data on health and sociological and economic data.
" Focus of the seminar: Environment in the new Member States of the European Union
