Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Goal of this class is a theoretical and practical knowledge on groundwater ecosystems. Subsequent to a successful and active participation, students will be able to describe subterranean habitats by their major abiotic and biotic characteristics and have collected practical experience in groundwater sampling.
Important topics are the design of sampling surveys, hands on training of different sampling techniques, preservation and processing of samples for subsequent physical-chemical, microbiological, and faunistic analysis. The course will provide a brief introduction into the composition of groundwater communities.
All students are invited to actively participate via questions and discussion.
