Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The seminar should be attended shortly before the beginning of the Diploma thesis. Attendants should have acquired laboratory competence through rotations in a few laboratories. The seminar should provide competence in planning and design of research projects and will thus set the basis for the forthcoming diploma work. The student should learn how to formulate a hypothesis and to test it experimentally. A time frame for the experiments to be performed should be developed.
Assessment and permitted materials
Compulsory attendance; the evaluation consists of different performances: quality and completeness of the seminar presentation, active participation in the scientific discussion of the presented publications, written records (the percentage of the subgrades will be announced by the course leader); each of the subgrades must have a positive evaluation.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
The course is aimed at advanced students and should provide competency in planning and controlling extended experimental series that should help to address a relevant research problem.
