Aims, contents and method of the course

This lecture will introduce the student into the elementary principles of bioinformatics. We will briefly explain sequence alignment and BLASt as well as other basic algorithms in bioinformatics. Moreover, we will give a short introduction into databases that are one corner stone of bioinformatics research.
