Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

This course gives an introduction for students of biology for their work
with computers. Therefore, special knowledge or skills in computing are
not a course prerequesite. The students are given lectures on basics in
computing and principles of applied informatics. They get introduced in
hardware and the operating system. The tutorials are dealing with software
needed for biologists (library catalogue query, scientific graphics, image
editing, spreadsheet analysis, word processing... ).
