Classes

Vorbesprechung will take place online at 13:00 - 14:00 on Friday March 3rd. The zoom link will be given in the course's Moodle page.

The course requires two full-day seminars, dates to be announced at the Vorbesprechung. In addition, students will attend at least three seminar talks of invited international speakers on topics relating to microbial ecology. These typically take place on Thursdays in UBB or hybrid/online.


Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The goal of this seminar is to discuss current themes in microbiology and microbial ecology. In team work and seminar talks, participants will use primary literature and get to learn concepts and challenges of contemporary microbial ecology. They will discuss and develop approaches to solve problems provided by the instructors, e.g. in the field of microbiome research or environmental microbiology.

This course will be co-taught with Dr. Marton Palatinszky

Assessment and permitted materials

Continuous assessment of course work. Active participation in team work and scientific discussions; quality of the seminar presentation.

Active participation in the seminar and in team work (50%), presentation (50%)
