Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Microsatellite is a co-dominant marker for population analysis. During this practical students will be shown how to design primers for microsatellite regions. They will be shown how to score the polymorphism and do the data analysis using the analytical programs available. There will be seminars related to application of microsatellite at population level.

Assessment and permitted materials

Giving a short presentation at the end of the course 30%
Writing a protocol 70%

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Introducing Microsatellite and cloning techniques which is necessary to design primers. Scoring and analyzing the data. Students will learn to use different computer softwares to analyse the data.

Examination topics

Will include DNA extractions, PCR, Fragment screening on Sequenzer as well as cloning.
Computer programes for data analyses.
