Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The first part (Bläsi) of the lecture deals with molecular tools used in recombinant DNA technology in bacteria and yeast. Particular emphasis is on cloning of heterologous genes, on different in vitro techniques used for identification, analysis and targeted modification of genes, on homogeneous purification of heterologous proteins as well as on transcriptome, proteome and interactome analyses.
The second part (Meinke) of the lecture provides an insight into the mechanisms of vaccines as well as the technologies employed for the development of vaccines. In particular the individual components of a vaccine and their contributions are discussed as well as how novel components can be identified. Technologies will include those specifically used for antigen identification, but also those for selection of in vivo expressed genes/proteins.
