Classes

The course will be held as a full-day block practical from 01.02. - 15.02.2024 from 09:00 - 16:00 in room 2U223 (Geozentrum, UZAII). The preliminary meeting will take place on January 15, 2024 at 10:00 am in room 2U223 (Geozentrum, UZAII).
Registration is ultimate at the preliminary meeting. Please contact me if you cannot attend the preliminary meeting.


Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Better understanding of the morphology of the vertebrate skull in a functional and evolutionary context. Students will learn basic comparative anatomy of selected representatives of vertebrates with focus on the cranial morphology. Aim of the course is, that the students are able to understand comparative aspects of vertebrate evolution at the end of this course. Lectures of selected topics will be given on several days of the course. Afterwards, dissections will be carried out.

Assessment and permitted materials

Compulsory attendance. In justified cases it is allowed to miss one day.

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria

Drawings of the dissected specimens (Weighting: 70%) and an oral presentation (in groups) focusing on the dissected specimen on the last day of course (Weighting: 30%).

Examination topics

The examination material is taught during the course in the form of theoretical and practical units.

Reading list

Literature will be provided during the course.
