Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

The lecture course presents elementary population genetics and quantitative genetics, and their implications for evolutionary biology, animal and plant breeding, and medicine. Topics include fundamentals of mathematical theory, classical case studies of experimental population genetics, as well as molecular methods. According to the interests of participants, current research on diverse subjects is discussed, including human genomics and applied topics such as forensic genetics, conservation biology and resistance evolution.

Assessment and permitted materials

Written examination (in German); contributions to the course (presentation and discussion) will also be considered in the assessment.
