Aims, contents and method of the course

- The alpine life zone; altitudinal boundaries, global alpine land area
- Origin of alpine flora
- Abiotic factors in the alpine zone and ecophysiological adaptations
- Elevational zonation; representative plant communities and their most important constituent species as well as their biogeographic patterns
- The impact of climate change on alpine habitats
- Classical and molecular biogeography (e.g., patterns of endemism) with emphasis on Pleistocene range dynamics

written exam (100%)
Minimum requirement for positive credit: 50% of points

Minimum requirement for positive credit: at least 50.5% of the points

Credit key:
16.5–18 points: grade 1 (excellent, "Sehr gut")
14–16 points: grade 2 (good, "Gut")
11.5–13.5 points: grade 3 (satisfactory, "Befriedigend")
9–11: grade 4 (sufficient, "Genügend")
0–8.5 points: grade 5 (failed, "Nicht genügend")
