Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
Better understanding of the morphology of the vertebrate skull in a functional and evolutionary context.
Assessment and permitted materials
Compulsory attendance. In justified cases it is allowed to miss one day. Drawings of the dissected specimens (Weighting: 70%) and an oral presentation (in groups) focusing on the dissected specimen on the last day of course (Weighting: 30%).
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
Students will learn basic comparative anatomy of selected representatives of vertebrates with focus on the cranial morphology. During the course, teams of two students are dissecting one specimen. Aim of the course is, that the students are able to understand comparative aspects of vertebrate evolution at the end of this course.
Examination topics
Lectures of selected topics will be given on several days of the course. Afterwards, dissections will be carried out.
Reading list
Literature will be provided during the course.
