The course will be block-booked, typically 2 lectures per week over about one month. An organizational and planning meeting will be held 17:00 4 Oct 2021 at the UBB 5th floor seminar room (Rm 5131 Djerassiplatz 1).


Information

Aims, contents and method of the course

Introduction to the fundamental principles of bioacoustics, with a focus on vertebrates. We cover vocal production (source-filter theory), hearing, and sound propagation in the environment. A strong focus is on understanding key analysis methods in bioacoustics, especially the Fourier transform.
