Aims, contents and method of the course
The course aims to familiarize participants with the structure and style of scientific journal articles in the field of biology. The focus is on practical exercises (comparative analysis of scientific text and text modules as well as writing, revising and optimizing examples following common standards of scientific writing). Successful graduates should be able to independently write and revise a bachelor thesis according to common international scientific theses and writing standards.
Assessment and permitted materials
- Assessment of course exercises and homework (50%)
- Active participation (20%)
- Final presentation and discussion (30%)

Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
- A positive grade requires a timely and complete submission of course exercises, an active participation in the course units and participation in the final presentation
