300171 UE Science Writing (2024W)

This course teaches the basics of scientific writing and communication in the field of biology. Through comparative analysis of scientific articles (in English), participants will become familiar with their structure and style. The course includes lectures and numerous exercises, which are worked on individually and/or in small groups. Through the practical exercises, the knowledge imparted can be applied to one's own work (e.g., analysis of given scientific texts and text modules; independent writing, revision and optimisation of text examples). After the course, participants should be able to independently write and revise a bachelor's or master's thesis according to the general/international standards of academic writing, publishing and communication.
