Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
This course is an introduction to the generation and analysis of DNA sequences for the identification of animals. The participants learn all steps from DNA extraction via PCR to the final sequencing of their samples. They also acquire the knowledge to identify their sequences to species level by comparisons with gene databases. The course offers an overview of the multitude of possible applications of DNA barcoding in ecological and biodiversity research as well as its limits and pitfalls.
