Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The goal of this course is to give a useful overview of paleogenomics aimed for students in Anthropology and Archaeology. We will start the course with an introduction to genetics and genomics in order to allow students to better grasp later concepts. We will then move forward with basic topics in paleogenomics including a history of this new field before delving into the current work and directions that are possible.
Assessment and permitted materials
We will require active participation in the course including a journal club, a project paper as well as a practice grant proposal.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
We expect full participation in discussions and projects and will grade based on this.
Examination topics
We expect students to have a good enough grasp of the paleogenomcs field to be able to think critically about the field.
Reading list
We will be using published articles (both primary and review)
