Information
Aims, contents and method of the course
The bauplan of all major fossil vertebrates will be discussed as well as from the taxonomic relevant extant taxa. Therefor the important groups of fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals are the main topic of this course. The evolutionary process and chronological appearance of the different taxa is the second topic of this course.
Assessment and permitted materials
Es wird zwei Zwischenprüfungen geben, eine etwa in der Mitte des Semesters, eine weitere gegen Ende des Semesters. Dabei wird die morphologische Formenkenntnis geprüft: das Erkennen von Wirbeltierresten.
Minimum requirements and assessment criteria
To gain first practical insight into the evolution of vertebrates and their fossil record. The students will have an overall knowledge about the bauplan of fossil vertebrates, their distribution in time.
Examination topics
Anschließend an die Vorlesung "Paläodiversität der Vertebrata": es wird Material vorgelegt, welches die StudentInnen erarbeiten müssen, teilweise in Form von Zeichnungen.
